Open the ChatShield app once and click "Quit and Open Safari Settings…". In Safari Settings → Extensions, tick ChatShield, then allow it on facebook.com and messenger.com.

Reload any Messenger tab that was already open.

Profile photos, names, message text (chat-list previews and conversation bubbles), images and media (photos, videos, stickers, GIFs, link previews), and typing and seen status. You can also remove the Messenger button and floating chat heads on facebook.com.

Turn each one on or off in the ChatShield popup, and choose between a blur (2–16 px) or hiding completely. Your news feed, comments, notifications and the box you type in are left alone.

With "Reveal on hover" turned on, point at a message or chat to peek at it. It hides again as soon as the pointer moves away. There's a short delay, so moving the mouse across the page doesn't flash anything.

Use the main switch at the top of the popup, or the keyboard shortcut — Alt + Shift + H by default (Option + Shift + H on a Mac). The popup's "Quick toggle" row shows the shortcut that's currently set.

Facebook updates its page layout often. Reload the tab first, then check that ChatShield is switched on and allowed on the website you're using. Updating to the latest version of ChatShield usually fixes it.
