Terms and Conditions for DIW
Welcome to DIW. By accessing or using our mobile application and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
1. Description of Service
DIW is a financial tracking and group expense management tool. It allows users to create groups, record shared expenses (“Expenses”), track cashbacks (“Income”), and document debt repayments (“Transfers”).
warningIMPORTANT
DIW is a calculation and tracking tool only. We do not process, hold, or transfer actual funds. Any financial settlements recorded in the app must be completed via external payment methods (cash, bank transfer, etc.).
2. User Accounts and Security
2.1 Account Creation
You may create an account via Email/Password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In. You are responsible for providing accurate information, including your full name and valid email address.
2.2 Security
We support Passkey (biometric) authentication for enhanced security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. We log device names used for Passkey registration to help you manage your authorized devices.
2.3 Account Deletion and Data Retention
You may delete your account at any time. To preserve the integrity of group financial history:
- check_circleYour personal identifiers (Email, Username, Phone Number) will be anonymized.
- check_circleYour transaction history will remain visible to other group members under a “Guest” or anonymized profile.
- check_circleGroup memberships will be detached from your identity, but your recorded debts and credits will persist in the group’s ledger.
3. Financial Logic and Accuracy
3.1 Settlement Algorithm: DIW uses an optimized settlement algorithm designed to minimize the number of transactions required to “settle up” a group.
3.2 Accuracy Disclaimer: While we strive for 100% accuracy, the system operates with a floating-point tolerance of 0.01 units. Minor rounding differences may occur. You agree to verify all calculations before making real-world payments.
4. User Conduct and Responsibilities
4.1 Prohibited Content: You agree not to use the service to: Record fraudulent or illegal transactions; Use offensive language in group titles, transaction descriptions, or usernames; Harass or threaten other members.
4.2 Group Administration: Group Administrators have the authority to “Complete” or “Reopen” groups, add/remove members, and manage roles. DIW is not responsible for disputes arising from administrative actions taken by users.
5. Privacy and Data Usage
We collect and process data as necessary to provide the service: Contact Info (Email and phone number); Social IDs (Google and Apple IDs); Push Tokens; Usage Data to improve app performance and enforce rate limits.
6. Receipt Photos
Attaching a photo of a receipt to an expense is optional, and you are responsible for what you photograph.
By uploading a receipt photo you confirm that:
- check_circleYou are entitled to share the image with the other members of that group or split.
- check_circleIt does not show payment card numbers, government identification, or other people's personal details that they have not agreed to share.
- check_circleYou understand that everyone on that group or split will be able to view it.
warningAutomatic reading is not verification
Your device reads the total from the photo to pre-fill the form. It can misread, especially on faded, creased or handwritten bills. Always check the amount before saving — the figure you save is the one that counts, not the one printed on the photo.
7. Accepting These Terms
You must accept these Terms before you can use DIW. Accepting them is what creates the agreement between you and us.
When you accept:
- check_circleWe record that you accepted, together with the date and the version of this document you agreed to.
- check_circleThat record is kept as proof of your agreement. It is not something you can change, and it is not removed if you later stop using the app.
- check_circleYou can read these Terms and the Privacy Policy at any time, from this site or from Profile in the app.
If we change these Terms
If we make a material change — to what the service does, what we record, or who can see it — we publish a new version with a new date and ask you to accept it the next time you open the app. Your earlier acceptance stays on record as the agreement that applied at the time. Declining means you can no longer use the app, and you will be signed out.
